Inauguration of Our AI-Driven Sanskrit Innovation Initiative
On 2 October 2025, The Madras Sanskrit College formally inaugurated its new AI-driven digital transformation initiative with a traditional kuttu vilakku lighting ceremony, marking the beginning of a significant journey to integrate Artificial Intelligence into Sanskrit education, research, and digitization.
The inaugural ideation session was graced by two distinguished experts:
Dr. Deepak Paramasivam
Dr. Suresh Venkataraghavan
Both dignitaries shared valuable insights on how AI and Large Language Models could meaningfully support Sanskrit pedagogy, text analysis, content digitization, and personalised learning pathways.
The session focused on:
- Defining long-term goals for AI-enabled Sanskrit learning
- Exploring models for digitizing manuscripts and traditional texts.
- Understanding the role of AI in supporting scholars and learners.
- Creating collaborative frameworks for sustained innovation
Although the project did not bear a formal name on the day of its launch, the event laid the conceptual foundation for what has now evolved into Project Acharya-AI — our flagship initiative to modernize Sanskrit learning through advanced technology.
The inauguration marks the beginning of a new era where traditional knowledge systems meet cutting-edge innovation, carried forward by scholars, technologists, and institutional partners.
